Guest post- Angela White: Author of Dark Fantasy

Good morning Angie, and welcome to my world. Please, introduce yourself to my readers.

Hello, I'm Angie. Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, lets you and I take a little stroll. There's a story I need to let out of its cage and I think it's one you need to hear. It's about the end of the world as we know it...

Tell me a little bit about your book.

Seven very gifted survivors are chosen to rebuild a post-apocalyptic United States after the war of 2012... If they can stay alive long enough to find each other.

Oh, love post-apocalyptic story-lines. So much you can do with them. :)

So, what’s your writing process like?

I work on whatever I’m closest to at the time (I have both mac and pc, as well as laptop and tower.) Out of them all though, the one I actually love is a pen and a blank sheet of white paper. After I let it flow for a while, I’ll redpen edit and then type it up.

Very interesting. I keep a pen handy as well, but LOVE my comp.

What do you do when you’re not writing?
I start online revenues sources. Lol. That means I have a lot of small websites that bring in small cash flows each moth. For October, it’s been all about my $5 author resources divisions. I offer virtual tours at a price no one can compete with.

Wow, you are a busy woman.

What made you decide to self-publish your work?

I got tired of queries and rejection letters.

I think many of can relate to that. Rejection letters suck.

Have you ever submitted your work to a traditional publisher? Would you consider doing so in the future?

After the impersonal replies and long waits, it’s very unlikely.

Yep, they do tend to take an extremely long time to come back.

What has your experience of self-publishing been like so far? Would you recommend it to other writers?

It’s been a joy and a burden but if you work hard, if you’re strong enough, there’s nothing quite like creating whole worlds. Smiling.

Well they do always say, hard work pays off. No different here :)

What have your marketing strategies been so far? How successful were they? Any advice for new indie writers?

I was recently a panelist for a Book Buzzer Webinar on Amazon sales. They should stop by and listen to what all three of us had to say! I cover the exact steps I took to break the top 10 on Amazon.

Great idea! Always handy to know what others did to get where they are. Shared knowledge is wonderful.

We all know that many out there doubt indie published authors. How would you respond to those who argue that self-published books are of inferior quality to traditionally-published ones?

I would agree. And then say that doesn’t mean those books don’t have the right to exist. Even the most poorly written novel has at least one fan and that’s reason enough for it to be on the shelves.

Very true. Not to mention, there are resources out there that can be used to see the quality well enough in advance. One persons trash is another persons treasure

What type of genres do you like to write and read?

It‘s the same for both. Dark fantasy, Horror, Sci fi, Romance, Supernatural. I get around! Lol.

We're soul sisters! :) Though romance is generally a small part of my reading list.

Who is one of your favorite characters and which book and why do you like him/her?

Alexa Mitchel is a hard-ass warrior woman who’s leading a group of human men on a quest to find the legend of Safe Haven. She’s hard, sexual, and always in control. I think I may want to be her someday!

What woman wouldn't? Love the idea.

Well Angie, it has been great having you here. For my readers, you can find more about Angie at Angela White's Blog

"This new world has become a harsh, merciless existence where nature tries hard to push mankind to the brink of extinction. Everything is against us, between us...

Untold miles of lawless, post-apocalyptic roads wait for our feet, and the Future, cold and dark, offers little comfort. Without CHANGE, there will be no peace. Only Survivors."

"Set along the lines of The Stand and The Postman, this is a chilling vision of the collapse of all society and the rebirth of a nation by those who survived. Life After War is so much more than just another end of the world 2012 story."  -The Review Shop

Fated to lead New America, seven very gifted people survive the 2012 apocalypse, only to find themselves on a cross country journey through a post apocalyptic nightmare that will shake the very core of who they thought they were. From dangerous trips into dark, decaying American cities, to patriotic rescues of fellow refugee's, Life After War is an action packed paranormal fantasy series where the survivors must come to terms with their mistakes in
the old world, while fighting for a place in the new one.

  1. Hi,

Over for The Halloween Hop. I am a dark fiction author myself -- not self-published, though. Don't want to deal with the hassle. LOL You can also find my book on Goodreads and a list of my published works on my blog.

Like your blog. Thanks for linking.

I have an interview with editor Ellen Datlow on The Demon Stole My Pencil linked and some other posts related to Halloween/creepy stuff. Hope to see you hop on by.

  2. Hello! (((((hugs)))))

It’s so awesome to visit your lovely blog today on this Halloween blog hop. I think this is an awesome opportunity to meet other authors! I’m joining your blog and I hope you’ll join mine, too, so we can learn more about one another.
My favorite monster movie is Night of the Living Dead and I’m dressing up as a mime. Mime is one of the most ancient forms of theatre, appearing around the time of the Greek tragedies. I hope to perfect the art and technique of portraying a mood, idea, or narration by gestures and bodily movements. The only problem is…that I have a big mouth! LOL. It’s so nice to meet you!

  4. Halloween Hop!
Hi! The scariest book I've ever read was "IT". It reached deep into my subconsciousness and scared the heck out of me! For Halloween I'll be dragging out my Elmo snuggy for my couch potato costume.

  6. Halloween Hopper here! Great interview, I love the cover for her book! I've definitely considered self publishing, but for now I'm trying the get-an-agent route first. My favorite spooky movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas, and I'm going to dress up as a devil. Great to meet you!
