Hi, RG, What a marvelous site (which I tweeted) and kudos on your new book release! My favorite Holiday memory is from the recent past, when my hubby asked me to marry him. (I'd been married before and was sure I'd never marry again). He was trembling, and I knew he was nervous, kneeling there with an engagement ring. All my doubts vanished in an instant as I said 'yes', and later at dinner, he asked each of my children for their blessings. I've not had a sorry moment since, and I'm so very happy!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think it's the holiday memories that make current holidays so great. remembering what we used to do. My favorite memory is of going to this house in Brooklyn that had a huge animatronic set up in the from yard. I loved that place.
ReplyDeleteHappy hopping!

My favorite holiday memory was when I was six years old and my Papa (that's "grandfather" to others) gave me a Pound Puppy lol I remember it was something I'd wanted SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly it wasn't even funny :) It's silly that that's one of my favorite memories, but it is :) Thanks for the giveaway!

When I was about four my parents were in a bit of a tight spot come Christmas time because my dad had just gotten laid off work. My mom was still able to support us but that didn't leave anything left for presents and stuff.
ReplyDeleteWe lived in a two bedroom apartment and we were really close with a lot of our neighbors. I didn't know anything about what was going on with my parents but my mom did have to tell me that Santa might not be able to make it that year.
As you can imagine to any little kid that's totally devastating. I was miserable. It didn't help that I had the flu for about two weeks leading up to Christmas.
Anyway long story short our next door neighbors found out and decided that that was total crap. My mom took me to a doctors appointment because of said flu and when we cam home the entire living room had toys in it. I remember walking in the house feeling upset because Santa still wasn't coming and I'd gotten shots.
So I walk into the house trudging behind my mom and bump right into her legs. I looked at her to probably say something totally bratty and then noticed that the tree was on. I screamed my head off and started dancing around and making all sorts of noise.
I can't remember the ladies names now, which is really sad, but I remember them coming out of the kitchen and smiling at me and telling me that Santa had dropped off my gifts at their house and he'd done it a little early.
At the time I had no idea how big of a deal all of this was but by the time I was 10 I'd figured it out. Now I get that presents aren't a big deal but the memory didn't stick with me because of that it stuck with me because those ladies went way out of their way for a little kid that wasn't even theirs. They made sure I got everything that was on my list and then some.
It sorta made me really invested in the Christmas Miracle. Don't get me wrong I think you should try to show kindness daily but it just always puts a smile on my face and makes me want to encourage my nieces and nephews to believe in Christmas Magic.

Hmm, one of my favorite holiday memories was when I was younger we used to actually decorate our own ornaments. My parents bought different colored plain ornaments, give us glue and glitter and go crazy.
ReplyDeleteWe'd eat a bunch of junk and have a string of Christmas movies on. Some years we'd also get in the car and drive around looking at all the houses who'd decorate their houses. It was always the little things!
Thanks!

One of my many Favorite Christmas memories was that last year my family and I had the most relaxing christmas ever! We opened presents, ate Cinnamon rolls and drank coffee. The highlight.......we all got books and were sitting around reading and enjoying our separate adventures!

Thank you for the excellent giveaway. I hope you have a joyous and safe holiday season. It's a stretch for me to think of a favorite holiday memory. My dad died on Christmas morning in a house fire when I was eight so Christmas isn't my favorite holiday. So I guess my favorite memory would be when we celebrated my oldest daughter's first Christmas. Seeing the joy and fun she had with her presents kind of made up for my bad Christmas memories. Now I just try to enjoy the holidays watching the joy of my grandchildren.

ReplyDeleteMy fav memory is that every year I made cookies with my mom. She started the tradition with her mom, and now I bring my daughter over to continue it!!

Holiday Hop! Merry Christmas!Best of luck in the new year
ReplyDeleteFantastic to see all the posts. Love everyones special memories. For me, mine was laying underneath my parent's christmas tree and just watching the lights twinkling above me and knowing the snow was flowing outside and that the magic of the night was finally here. It has always been a special time for me, and one I have never forgotten. The spirit of the day, the love of the family and the closeness we all shared.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory is Mom, my daughter & I all preparing a traditional Polish dinner for Christmas. This year, my grandsons (3&4 years old) will be "helping". That'll be 4 generations preparing dinner this year!

When I was young we had a family get together at a relatives farm. All the kids would be sent into the backroom to wait for Santa. We would here the sleigh bells coming through the woods out back and then noises on the roof. When we were allowed into the front room there by the tree was Santa with a
